Why we created Ready for MRI

An MRI appointment can bring two different worries: what the results might mean, and how you’ll get through the scan itself.

A practical place to begin

Feeling uneasy about tight spaces, noise, or panic can add another task to an already difficult time. A previous attempt that had to stop can make preparation feel especially important.

Ready for MRI is being designed to bring information, optional exercises, and a personal plan into one place. It is designed for adults who want to think through the experience before their appointment, with time to choose what feels useful.

Preparation with room for choice

The planned program is designed to help you consider the moment you’re worried about, try a Main and Backup technique, and prepare questions for the MRI team. You can skip an exercise, change your plan, or ask for help. You do not need to prove that you can tolerate distress.

The aim is practical preparation. We do not promise a completed scan, offer treatment for claustrophobia, or claim that the program’s effectiveness has been established in a clinical trial.

Your team, your decisions

Your clinician and MRI center decide which examination and medical support are appropriate. Their instructions take priority. Ready for MRI can help you prepare that conversation; it does not make those decisions for you.
